The 2020 Domaine du Vieux College Marsannay Rouge "Les Longeroies" is a red Burgundy made from 100% Pinot Noir grown in the highly regarded lieu-dit (vineyard site) of Les Longeroies. Produced by winemaker Eric Guyard, the wine is a result of the 2020 vintage, which was known for creating concentrated, powerful wines. The vineyard has old vines, with some planted in the 1920s, contributing to the wine's rich, mouth-coating quality. An intense and elegant nose featuring black fruit with spicy accents, as well as notes of black cherries, black tea, and baking spices. This wine is considered dense, ripe, and powerful, with a "silky palate". The flavor profile is characterized by red and black cherry fruit, a touch of saltiness (saline), and a distinct "gamey character". The tannic structure is notable, providing a firm grip that is coated but also long and persistent. The wine, which is certified organic, exhibits a silky mouthfeel and intense aromas, making it a "magnificently over-delivering" red.
