The 2018 Vallepicciola Vin Santo del Chianti Classico (375ml) is a rich, expertly balanced Tuscan dessert wine. It blends 70% White Malvasia and 30% Trebbiano Toscano grapes, which are carefully dried until they lose (60%) of their weight before aging in small barrels. The nose presents sweet notes of acacia honey, dates, and lychee, accompanied by hints of cinnamon, citrus, and chamomile. On the palate, it is full-bodied, enveloping, and sweet, but balanced by a crisp, lively acidity that keeps the long finish from becoming cloying. Because of its rich complexity and sweetness, this wine is ideal as a meditation wine or paired with aged cheeses, blue cheese, fruit tarts, dry pastries, and classic Italian almond biscotti (cantucci). It is traditionally served between 10°C and 14°C to fully open up its aromas.
